How Does Ed-
1. We help by shipping much needed educational equipment to the schools. More...
2. We also finance the renovation or rebulding of classrooms, toilets and staff accommodation especially in remote areas. More...
How is this done?
We work through our partners, the Catholic Education Secretariat (CES) in The Gambia, who manage their 26 Mission schools for ages 7-16 and 52 nursery schools for ages 5 to 7. More...
Do the Mission Schools only help Christians?
The mission schools teach all children. Gambia is a Muslim country, so the majority of the pupils in these schools are Muslim. In some places, the Mission school is the only school in the area. Religion is a compulsory subject in all schools in The Gambia, so Muslim and Christian pupils are taught by an appropiate member of the staff.
HOW IS ALL THIS HELP FINANCED?
Ed-Aid is entirely dependent on donations from its supporters in the UK, and fundraising by its working committee.
All work is voluntary but expenses may be claimed.
